A bundle of joy is all you can think of. Life may have given her wrinkles, but she smiles through them. A mountain woman, whose life has been spent on taking her herd around and collecting firewood. Those wobbling teeth and small eyes, pair perfectly with her small hair. She is the perfect definition smiling away your troubles.

Carrying ages of burdens, she still carries her veil carefully. Way past the struggles of life, it almost seems she was conscious of being sketched. She has kindness in her eyes, almost pleading and yet the pride of her age holds her emotions.

A happy hopeful face. The emotions seem honest and not a mirage in the form of a sketch. The soft smile almost seems to be the beginning of a loud laugh. Sitting at a chair in a barber shop, probably laughing at one of those jokes that barbers tell to pass the time along.

Bringing elements of comic and horror together, the artist seems to have remembered this face in a theatre. Such striking was the character, that the artist decided to paint him. Even when the moustache and the smile, brings the comic elements, it is those eyes that seem to bring the intensity of seriousness. The highly rising moustache, a symbol of masculinity, with flowers on top can be read at various levels.

Karan Dhawan
With a keen interest in design & aesthetics, Karan Dhawan is a young architecture student & enthusiast; besides interests in fine arts & photography. While growing up midst the hills of Uttarakhand, his relationship with nature ripened. His sense of expression through realism, matured over a period of 8 years. Not only confined to the length and breadth of the canvas, colours, life, and experiences have been his inspiration, and hence, traveling and photography became his passion. Every piece of his creative work is aimed at absorbing negativity and redefining life through a positive sense of aesthetics.
