Was the death of Captain America not enough for Marvel fans to cry upon? Now, we are all set to lose our beloved genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist. Iron Man is set to die in the Avengers – Infinity War movie. Robert Downey Jr has been hinting at his retirement from Avengers for a long time, and it was worrying when Iron Man 4 was not announced or confirmed by Marvel for over an year. Now, the worst has happened, as we are set to lose another Marvel hero before the advent of Phase 4 of the MCU.
RDJ, in an interview, has claimed that he is “ready to hang up his boots on Marvel, and say goodbye to his costume after 10 years of being Iron Man.” He also added “I want to hang up on my jersey before it gets embarrassing. It was an amazing experience playing Iron Man, but unfortunately, it is time to hang up my boots.” Robert had also uploaded a video on his Facebook page, thanking Marvel and his fellow heroes for 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, marking the 10 year anniversary of the release of Iron Man.
The death of Iron Man has been in air since a long time, ever since the release of the Infinity War teaser, and it is known that many actors will be going off the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it prepares to bring along newer superheroes, and superheroines, such as Captain Marvel. The man in a suit of armor will, as per the script, lose against Thanos, and the conqueror will also kill Captain America. While Captain America, played by Chris Evans, just might survive till Avengers 4, it is sure that we will see Robert suit up for one last time on 26th April.
Iron Man is undoubtedly one of the most loved Marvel heroes, and the acting of Robert Downey Jr has won him many acclaims from fans and critics alike. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will surely be incomplete without Iron Man, and RDJ as well.
