The Cyrus family has given another star to the music industry and this time it is, Miley Cyrus’ younger sister, Noah Cyrus. The 16-year old had been working on her music for the last two years and, Make Me Cry marks the official launch of her singing career.
Cyrus’ emotional song about breakup has garnered praises.
MTV has called it ‘the perfect breakup song’ while Rolling Stone has termed it an “R&B-tinged pop tearjerker.” Upon its release, the song became the number one shared song in the world on Spotify and apart from headlining major radio stations across the world, the song has even debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Make Me Cry
The song was made during one of her album writing sessions with British R&B star Labrinth. She says, “Originally it was just me on the song, and then just by mistake his vocal came in and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, you have to stay on it.’”
Noah’s opening reminds one of Miley Cyrus’ tone when she started singing, but as the song progresses, Noah’s depth sets her voice apart.
The songs talks of breakups and different facets of anticipated separations. It carries an uninterrupted flow even as a number of variations work in the opposite direction.
It sounds really magical when these two come together in the chorus. Labrinth sounds like another John Legend, with a beautiful tone and real emotional depth in his voice.
Make Me Cry (Acoustic)
The acoustic version of the song is even better than the original one.
The songs gets a haunting new makeover with just a piano in the background paired up with the amazing voices of Noah and Labrinth. The already gorgeous song gets more depth in this acoustic version and is bound to win more hearts.
Apart from being mentored by her elder sister and her father, the young Cyrus is inspired by Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith and she surely has a bright future ahead.
Noah will be releasing her debut album in 2017 and we sure are excited for that!
