Top Gun (1986), directed by Tony Scott and nothing less than a cult film, has been one of the most successful military action drama that inspired and keeps on inspiring many of us to become a fighter-pilot.
Beside the handsome-looking, blue-eyed Tom Cruise, it was the love of aviators and the need for speed that caught our attention and as the movie made over $350 Million, we kept wondering if we shall ever get to see the rivalry of Maverick and Ice-Man back on screen in a sequel.
Hold on to your breaths, for a sequel has been confirmed by none other than Tom ‘Maverick’ Cruise. According to reports, Top Gun 2 had been in development for quite some years with the original director, Tony Scott, but his untimely death led to the delaying of the project.
Top Gun 2 which has been named as Top Gun: Maverick and is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, who has worked with Tom Cruise before in Oblivion. Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Maverick, now a flight instructor teaching the young pilots. Van Kilmer might also reprise his role as Ice-man.
